'A New' Attitude
Dion returns to music with the release of A New Day Has Come, her first studio album in five years, which debuts at No. 1 on the charts and eventually goes triple platinum. Explaining her absence, the singer tells Barbara Walters: "I needed to stop. I needed a balance in my life…. I wanted to be home…. I've never had a normal life."

Bright Lights, Sin City
Dion relocates her family to Las Vegas to perform her show, "A New Day," five nights a week at Caesars Palace. The singer is paid $100 million, in addition to 50 percent of the show's profits for the successful extravaganza, which is extended two more years. (During her first year on The Strip, Dion mourns the death of her father Adhémar at age 80 in November 2003.) Nearly five years later, the show earns over $400 million and Dion takes her final bow.

Twin Peaks
After enduring grueling fertility treatments and subsequent miscarriages, Dion, 42, finally gives birth to fraternal twin sons, Eddy and Nelson. "The love and what I feel inside, what we have accomplished – I don't know how to put it into words," an overjoyed Dion tells PEOPLE. "It's bigger than life itself."
